JUDGE SLAMS BRAKES ON TRUMP'S USAID PURGE!

By Staff

NEW YORK, February 7, 2025, 8 p.m. - In a last-minute twist, a federal judge has temporarily blocked President Trump's plan to gut the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) just hours before it was set to take effect. The ruling came down Friday evening, throwing a wrench into the administration's efforts to slash USAID's workforce from about 10,000 to fewer than 300 globally.

Judge Carl Nichols, a Trump appointee no less, announced he would issue a "very limited" temporary restraining order after two labor unions sued the administration. The American Foreign Service Association and American Federation of Government Employees filed the lawsuit, claiming Trump's actions to dismantle USAID were unconstitutional and illegal.

The White House argues USAID is mismanaging funds and needs to align with Trump's "America First" policy. But critics say the cuts would create a global humanitarian crisis and jeopardize U.S. national security interests.

This legal battle is just the latest chapter in Trump's war on what he calls government waste. With USAID's fate hanging in the balance, Washington is buzzing about whether this is just a temporary setback or the start of a drawn-out fight over the future of U.S. foreign aid.
