HUD Boss Cuts $4 Million in DEI Contracts, Claims Huge Savings Found Under Biden

NEW YORK, NY, February 21, 2025, 2 p.m. - In a bold move that’s sure to ruffle feathers, Housing and Urban Development Secretary Scott Turner announced the cancellation of $4 million in Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) contracts, insisting the funds should be redirected to better serve the American people.
Turner shared the news on "FOX & Friends," revealing that his newly formed Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) task force uncovered an astounding $260 million in savings — and even got back $1.9 billion in misplaced funds during the Biden administration.
"We're cleaning house, and DEI at HUD is now officially dead," Turner declared. He argued that the contracts, which focused on “culture transformation” and “mindset thinking,” were a waste of taxpayer dollars at a time when the agency needs to tighten its belt.
The move comes as part of President Trump’s executive order aimed at maximizing governmental efficiency and cutting waste and fraud in federal spending. Turner said the funds would help enhance HUD’s services and thwart what he described as “great mismanagement” from the previous administration.
However, not everyone is thrilled with the decision. Three civil rights nonprofits have already slapped the Trump administration with a lawsuit, alleging that cutting DEI grants will significantly impede their ability to promote civil rights causes.
Turner, who’s under fire for this action, remains undeterred. “These funds are now available for crucial federal expenditures,” he insisted, promising taxpayers that their money will be used more effectively than ever before.
As the dust settles on this explosive announcement, it’s clear that the battle lines are drawn in the ongoing debate over diversity in government spending. Whether this marks the end of DEI programs or the spark of a larger fight remains to be seen.
