Black unemployment rate dips under Trump

NEW YORK, May 5, 2017, Noon - The black unemployment rate today continued to dip under President Trump's new administration, according to a just released jobs report by the U.S. Department of Labor.

The rate continued a decline from 8.1 percent just two months ago to 7.9 percent in April, according to the report. The rate has declined from February when it was at 8.1 percent and the March rate of 8 percent.

In contrast, the white rate was down from 4 percent to 3.8 percent.

The overall rate was down from 4.5 percent to 4.4 percent.
