EXCLUSIVE: Prince tried to keep Ananda Lewis at BET

April 22, 2016, 6 p.m. - BET founder Bob Johnson today told Redding News Review Unrestricted that Prince was "fond" of Ananda Lewis on "Teen Summit" and contacted him to keep her on.

Johnson told listeners of the talk show that the purple star contacted him when he learned that she was leaving the show.

Prince, who died suddenly yesterday has more recently emerged as a fairly secretive humanitarian, who funded the movie "Malcolm X",  quietly gave money to the family of Trayvon Martin and started "Yes We Code."
