1. Black Lives Matter - Chants of "Hands up, don't shoot" and "I can't breathe" have become frequent chants of activist calling themselves Black Lives Matter. The movement has been debated in name and mission but what is not up for debate is the impact that it has had on the entire globe.

2. Shootings - Blacks were shot in a mass shooting in Charleston, S.C.  There were also shootings by police in notable places like Cleveland, Baltimore, Chicago and Milwaukee. However, authorities got off in cases in Cleveland, Baltimore, Texas and Chicago. Blacks also grabbed headlines as the gunmen in mass shootings in Virginia and Oregon.

5. U.S. elections - The Muslim, Latino and "the black" musings of GOP candidate Donald Trump has caused him to emerge as the leader, but it is too early of a lead people who don't look or think like him.
