Author says Mitt Romney led racist church

By Robert "Rob" Redding Jr.

ATLANTA, July 12, 2011, 1 a.m. - The author of a controversial new book about a top GOP presidential candidate says that he is an unapologetic leading figure in a racist church.

Tricia Erickson, who is a former Mormon, says that Mitt Romney is far from being a casual believer. She says his Mormon church teaches that blacks are said to be "cursed by God" and are from a "backwards country."

"People need to be educated as to what this man's church, Mitt Romney's church, represents," Erickson said.

Erickson, who says that Romney has not disclaimed any of the teachings about blacks, talked about Romney being a bishop and a regional representative in the church.
