Marlene Johnson leaves RCI

By Staff

April 8, 2008, 12:16 p.m. -  The Washington Continent and Redding News Review executive editor today said she is leaving the publications.

"I am planning some writing projects of my own and time won't permit me to continue," Marlene L. Johnson wrote in a short letter to Publisher Robert Redding Jr.

Her resignation, which concludes nine months at the publications, is effective immediately.

"We wish her all the best in her future pursuits and will be making an announcement about her replacement shortly," said Redding, who will be editing both sites in the interim.

Johnson was the first editor of The Washington Continent, a new independent online District-focused daily newspaper.

She was also only the second editor of six-year-old Redding News Review, a Black Web Award-winning site.

Both publications are owned and operated by Redding Communications, Inc., known as RCI.
