July 19, 2007, 2:20 p.m. - An Atlanta pastor and activist today called federal charged filed against embattled Falcons quarterback Michael Vick "ridiculous."

"Right is right and wrong is wrong," said the Rev. Robert Redding Sr., pastor of Belmont Missionary Baptist Church and longtime president of the Fayette County Voters League.

"Dog lovers everywhere ought to be just as concerned about all the deer, that are killed for sport, and elephants, that are killed for their tusk, and all the other animals that they kill for sport," Redding said.

Vick was indicted Tuesday by a federal grand jury for competitive dogfighting, purchasing and training pit bulls for fighting and conducting the enterprise across state lines. He is due in court next week on those charges.

Surry County, Va., where authorities said the fighting occurred, is also considering charges.

"I don't know whether he did it or not," Redding said. "I think that even if he did do it, they are blowing this way out of proportion. They are concerned about only one type of animal and they should be concerned about all animals."

He also said people should be more concerned about "real issues of criminality" that are keeping "wrongly convicted men" like Genarlow Wilson and Troy Davis in prison.
