Redding News Review improves Internet ranking

    WASHINGTON, May 15, 2006, 11:00 a.m. - Consistent triple-digit increases in readership and have catapulted Redding News Review to its best Internet ranking yet, according Alexa.com.

    Amazon.com’s Web traffic rating service ranked the Web's only daily independent black news portal, owned by RCI, 598,970 out of more than 54 million active .com and .net addresses.

    "This is a major move in the right direction, but there is still a lot of work before our consistent streak of exclusives and compelling syndicated radio news shows place us at No. 1," said Redding News Review Publisher and RCI CEO Robert "Rob" Redding Jr.

    Alexa had previously ranked Redding News Review 761,481 last year and 714,518 last week. The new rankings place the Web site ahead of The Black World Today, Global Black News and Neo Black and just below AOL Black Voices, without having to focus on entertainment or spending massive amounts of money on marketing.

    "Our growth has all been word-of-mouth," Redding said, "And at the end of the day those are the types of readers that keep coming back."

     Founded March 2002, Redding News Review's editorial philosophy has been to expose the partisan political nature of government - while bringing attention to minority issues ignored or buried by mainstream media - with up-to-the-minute credible, competitive and consistent coverage.

    Redding News Review has served more than 350,000 unique visitors over the last two years. Its content was viewed by nearly 3 million visitors last year alone.

    The site, which features links to both mainstream and black publications, has been credited for influencing news coverage by Upscale magazine, Rolling Out, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, the Baltimore Sun and the Washington Times newspapers.
