WASHINGTON, Oct. 23, 2006, 3:00 p.m. - Nation of Islam Minister of Health and Human Services Abdul Alim Muhammad  yesterday told a crowd at Union Temple Baptist Church that Minister Louis Farrakhan is far from death, as alluded to in a recent news article.

"The devil is a liar and he owns The Washington Post," Muhammad said of the paper's weekend report.

The Post on Sunday published an article entitled "The End of an Era? With Farrakhan Ill, The Nation Of Islam Prepares for Change".

Muhammad told a movie-going crowd of about 500 people that these "vultures" need to "flap away."

He made the remarks while filling in for organization's ailing leader who he said had wanted to attend the screening of the "Color of the Cross" - a film about Jesus being a black man - being held at the church.
