WASHINGTON, May 23, 2006, 4:35 p.m. - Black leaders joined together today to assail a bill that would give amnesty to millions of illegal immigrants.
"This is a total sell out to low-wage workers with disastrous consequences," said Frank Morris Sr., chairman of Choose Black America.
Morris said the newly-formed coalition of leaders opposes amnesty - which has the support of President Bush - and says that any black member of Congress who backs the plan does not represent the views and interests of their constituents.

"What the president is doing is illegal and unconstitutional," said Claud Anderson, a black economist.
The Rev. Jesse Lee Peterson, a Bush supporter and outspoken critic of the civil-rights establishment, agreed.
"I am so disappointed in our government," said Peterson, who has continued to stress that the struggles of illegal immigrants is not the same as those experienced by black people during the civil-rights movement.
"We are all going to suffer for [illegal immigration] but blacks are going to suffer more," he said.
Members of Choose Black America said they are ready to sue the government if amnesty is granted to illegal immigrants during a more than hour-long news conference held at the National Press Club.
