D.C. mayoral candidate James Butler is angry that the Washington Post has marginalized and minimized his campaign.
The write-in candidate says that The Post has said that his incumbent challenger D.C. Mayor Muriel Elizabeth Bowser has “no” competition, spelled his name wrong, will not refer to him by his ANC commissioner title and has declined to invite him to an editorial board.
“It is hard not to take things personally when you’re a person,” he told this reporter on “Redding News Review Unrestricted.”
He also said The Post, which he says receive financial support from her contributors, is cozy with the sitting mayor.
“They are closely aligned with the mayor in many respects,” he said.
Butler’s comments come as the NY Times newspaper has been under fire for ignoring progressive candidates like Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez in favor of incumbents.
It also comes as an Australia newspaper is under fire for its treatment of tennis star Serena Williams.
